World Cup 2019 India vs Afghanistan Southampton Weather news update rain to affect ind vs afg match: India will look to maintain its unbeaten record in the tournament provided the weather in Southampton doesn’t play spoilsport on Saturday.

All eyes will be on the weather once again when India take on Afghanistan in their next match of the World Cup 2019 in Southampton on Saturday (June 22).

India have already suffered a washout against New Zealand and had to share points despite being the favourites going into that match in Nottingham. But they overcame that setback by thrashing Pakistan in their fourth match of the tournament to maintain their unbeaten record so far.

The Indian team though, suffered a big blow on Wednesday as opener Shikhar Dhawan got ruled out for the rest of the tournament due to a thumb injury. Dhawan had suffered a hairline fracture during his match-winning 117 against Australia at The Oval on June 9.

The Indian team management has given Rishabh Pant’s name to the International Cricket Council as the official replacement for Dhawan in the 15-member squad. KL Rahul will continue to open for the team in the remaining matches.

India will also be without the services of Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the next three games after the pacer sustained a hamstring injury in the last match against Pakistan in Manchester. Mohammed Shami is expected to come into the playing XI in Bhuvi’s place.

The last match for India had to be cut short by 10 overs in the second innings due the multiple rain interruptions but fortunately, enough play was possible throughout the day to produce a conclusive result in favour of India as they completely outplayed Pakistan in all three departments to register their third win by 89 runs via the DLS method.

India will now face Afghanistan and the good news as of now is that fans should get to see a full game in Southampton with rain likely to stay away for the entire duration of the 100 overs.

The conditions will remain mostly sunny till 12 PM BST (4.30 PM IST) after which it will turn cloudy but chances of rain stands at 0 per cent at the moment. The temperature will tough a high of 20 Degrees Celsius while the lowest will be around 13 Degrees.
